Chelsea has initiated internal disciplinary proceedings in response to a video posted by Enzo Fernandez and his Argentina teammates singing a chant about French players. The French Football Federation has called the chant ‘unacceptable, racist, and discriminatory’ and plans to file a legal complaint. Fernandez issued an apology, acknowledging the offensive nature of the song. The video was recorded after Argentina’s victory in the Copa America final. Chelsea Football Club has expressed its disapproval of discriminatory behavior and plans to educate its players. Wesley Fofana, a Black France international, criticized the incident, which led to racist replies on social media. FIFA, the Argentinian Football Association, and CONMEBOL have not commented on the matter.
